Only a Few Words

Lying to myself
That this thing that's causing
So much anguish
Is as rewarding as it seems.

The present seems so much like the past,
Because without variation,
We're only repeating exodus.

Ignoring the omens,
Those obvious omens
That tell me what step is next.

We were always told
That history should be learned
So we could learn from our mistakes,
And make things right for once.

I never enjoyed history
Because people always acted like idiots.

We'll never know what went through their head
That made their acts smart in their mind,
Until we'd reach their struggle.

And then we'd describe the battle
With only a few words.
